
Jonathan Reid is GM of Portakabin’s Event Hire Division in Scotland. Through his involvement in the Dynamic Leader programme he transformed his divisions results (see quote below).
How did he do it?
He quickly realised that his direct and fast paced management style and behaviours were not engaging and allowing his team to contribute. This meant he was constantly in fire-fighting and problem solving mode. Early in the programme he started to change how he communicated with and led his team. They started to understand what was expected of them take ownership and responsibility for goals actions and results. With fewer ‘fires’ started and fewer problems to be solved he began to change his focus to working with clients on future opportunities.
Why did it work?
He simply provided his team with the goal clarity, support, freedom, he used the tools we worked with him on to coach and develop individuals and the team. Now everyone knows their role, how they fit in, the goals, what the customer needs and wants and why. This allowed him to change his focus from a manager of activities to a leader of his Division.
Of his involvement in The Dynamic Leader programme he said:
